While the weather has returned to a more traditional March/April chill, Cambrian’s busy season is underway as we ship fresh Ecklonia kelp fertilizer and biostimulant products to our valued customers in organic farming, landscaping and golf course maintenance. I will get more specific and detailed on these topics in upcoming posts.

As spring arrives in earnest, please allow me to share what works for me in my own garden sanctuary. Spring time is when you really see the results of Cambrian Biotech’s organic lawn and garden products kick in.

An early spring application of ‘EkloGrow’ (Ecklonia kelp based biostimulant) or ‘KelPlus’ (Ecklonia kelp based biostimulant and fish nutrient blend), followed by a second application three to six weeks later, will result in increased vibrant growth, higher flower counts, and improved resistance to many stress factors.

A last word to those who are new to “the Power of Ecklonia Kelp” – now is a good time to put it to test – Just follow the package directions, or give us a call.

The days fly by yet spring seems so far away. A busy, active office is like a parallel universe to normal reality; always vibrant and exiting.  Every day is a new day bringing it’s own, new experiences & developments.  Communicating with associates and clients lead to insights while building durable relationships. We  are indeed fortunate to have daily purpose & goals to attain. It  rewards & strengthens the spirit.

Fresh Ecklonia Kelp

Good day

It’s such a relief to see all your luggage come tumbling out onto the carousel. The bags made it through customs after the Ecklonia kelp samples were inspected and, at great relief, were found to be acceptable and allowed to pass through.

The results of the South African trip are most encouraging; the samples obtained during our technical processing trials indicate that a number of additional unique Ecklonia based products are within reach. I am looking forward to sharing these samples with our distributors to obtain their feedback on new opportunities.

Please forgive the blogging absence; technology unfortunately does fail occasionally. Connections were down during last week. No complaints though, computers definitely are a step up from courier pigeons any day!

All signs point to a rapidly growing demand for organic fertilizer materials – new opportunities for previously discarded waste organic materials arise. Save your coffee grounds and start a compost pile – the bigger the better. You might be starting a local industry in the process.

Heading home with a bag full of insights and gifts to share with special people. The Cape, South Africa, this time of year, is a pleasure. All that is required is a T shirt and, occasionally, a light windbreaker. Sun glasses mandatory.  Spectacular scenery, inhabited by truly warm, friendly folk. Do visit Hermanus one day and,  from a high cliff perch, watch whale families frolicking in the shallow waters below. The perfect view, an amazing sight.

Getting home with all luggage in hand will be the perfect finish to what has been an enriching experience. My sincere thanks & gratitude go to those whom offered such warm, welcoming hospitality.

Here we go, 15 hours in the sardine can again.

Living in a small coastal town reflects in the faces of it’s inhabitants. Doesn’t anybody scowl around here?  Seriously, Hermanus is a friendly village loaded with kind & friendly people. If in doubt, just pop into the local ‘oasis’ called “Goddards” to meet the chairmen & ladies, lining the wide oak counter. All good folks; many of which refer to this popular watering hole as ‘The Office’.

Had a very insigtful meeting with Manie, Cambrian’s production manager. An engineer with with a fertile, creative mind, Manie is always on the look out to improve quality& production. He shared some promising new developments regarding a number of issues that are of importance. I am looking forward to working with him over the next days to evaluate the effectiveness of a few modifications presently in the planning stages.

Thereafter awaits a series of meetings with key individuals; all representing various components of the ‘bigger picture’. Of special interest is a new relationship in development with a significant African agricultural distribution company, owned and led by Pieter. I hope to swing by Pretoria to share a fresh brew with him on my way back to the US.

A new year always brings fresh aspirations and renewed commitments. May the targets you have listed all be achieved.

Flying east to cross oceans normally brings  noticeable and pesky issues of  ‘jet lag’ which can stretch over a number of days. This journey to South Africa was no different. South African Airways’ catering & service was, as usual, of top quality; the flights to Cape Town uneventful and as pleasant as extended flights can possibly be.

The African sun is hot in early January; any pale exposed skin is rapidly ‘toasted’ especially on toes peeping out of sandals, the popular local footwear. Fortunately, armed with Ecklonia kelp based Ocean Glow(r) Nourishing Hair & Body Mist, the ‘ouch’ factor was rapidly eleviated and sun burn damage limited.

South Africa closes down for the holidays from Christmas to early January. The South African wine industry does exceptionally well over this period and certainly contributes to the festive atmosphere clearly on display everywhere. Happy New Year wishes are randomly exchanged between family, friends and strangers alike.

For the majority, today would be the first day back at office. The wheels are turning again as early morning traffic flow cleary indicates. Time to load the pick & shovel, saddle up and get back to business. More as this unfolds.
